In the mixed up world of designing clothes, it's easy to forget what season it is. Right now, for example, we're busy getting ready to make our first summer delivery of 2013. And then at the end of the day I step outside into the frigid New York winter. Whenever I see this season's electric-bright florals, the bold lemon yellow of the Ava dress, or the hot pink chevron stripes on the Harper skirt—meant to evoke the '70s bohemian vibe of Woodstock— I can practically feel the blazing summer sun on my skin. We shot this season's catalogue on the hottest day of last summer. The thermometer topped 100 degrees all day and the air was perfectly still. Honestly, there wasn't enough breeze to rustle a single leaf, and no amount of popsicles could remedy the situation. Our little models were total troopers in the heat. Usually, it's a day long, care free play date and the girls love to romp around in front of the camera. This time, it was a little more challenging! The good news is that that we still captured some seriously adorable smiles, and everyone (including our incredible photographer, Ken) ended up in our pool at the end of the day. Sending big thanks and love to everyone who braved the crazy hot day with us. Though, I have to admit, a little bit of a heat wave sounds like heaven right now.
