My Love/Hate Relationship With Back to School!
The last weeks of summer always feel bittersweet to me. I finally slow down to enjoy some time at the beach with family and friends and the next thing I know my phone is buzzing with news of class lists and farm trips and all the things I need to do to get our family ready for back to school. I make lists, and appointments, and playdates and organize pick-ups and drop-offs before the start of school. The sudden need for order can feel overwhelming but I kind of like it. It's hard to trade lazy afternoons surfing and evening beach bonfires for hectic schedules of potlucks, curriculum nights and get-to-know-you cocktail parties, but I have to admit the excitement of a new school year feels electric. Maybe it's a throwback from my childhood when I couldn't wait to see my friends after a long summer and set out my first day of school outfit. Back to school shopping, whether for clothes, school supplies or after school equipment highlights our ramp up to the first day of school. This fall Pink Chicken rocks an awesome palette of plums and purples in all the styles and patterns you've come to love. Tweens will beg for our graphic Tees and lamé leggings, and for Women, our rich assortment of blouses and dresses will take you from drop-off to dinner and everywhere in between. If you're in New York check out our Madison Avenue store for some special notebooks, pens, pencils and accessories that will tie up your look perfectly. I hate to let go of summer's carefree attitude but there is something to be said for getting back to business. Even the early morning school rush seems pretty good!
