Surprise Philanthropic Partnership

Pink Chicken | Blog Surprise Philanthropic Partnership
Late last summer our friend Christy Turlington Burns (she’s a mom in Sadie’s class!) was invited to sit for a photo shoot for Porter magazine. Porter – the editorial cohort of the fashion website Net-a-Porter – wanted to talk to Christy about Every Mother Counts, her much lauded public health and philanthropic pursuit. (See April 29 blog post.) Lucky for us, Christy wore our classic Betsey dress to the shoot.  It was a hot Hamptons day after all. Although they were focusing on her jewelry, the editors and photo team thought our dress was the perfect complement and ended up keeping it in the shot. Flash forward, Christy, the jewelry and our dress are on the cover of the magazine’s October issue and whatever is on the cover of Porter needs to be available for sale on Net-a-Porter. Quick thinking Christy texted me and told me how everything unfolded. She asked if we might be able to make the dress again so Net-a-Porter could sell it online. Of course I said YES! As an added bonus this issue of Porter is their philanthropy issue and a portion of the sales of our Betsey dress will go back to Every Mother Counts. We have long been supporters of EMC...just last week Christy took a trip to Haiti to see how work was progressing with Midwives for Haiti and we filled her suitcases with new clothes for Haiti’s mom's. It’s so great when a win-win like this crops up out of nowhere. I couldn’t be happier about this partnership! Screen Shot 2014-10-06 at 1.55.44 PM
