Last year my family spent our Spring Break in California! We began the trip in LA so that I would be able to pop in to see our awesome Santa Monica store, while my husband, too, had business. We also had a craving to explore a new town. We ended up in an incredible, small beach town, Encinitas, just two hours south of Los Angeles. Of course, the first thing on our list was finding a place to surf!! We ended up renting a breathtaking house on Airbnb (Hi Johnny!) and just like that, we were off.
We loved our time in Encinitas so much that we decided to return for our Pink Chicken SS17 photo shoot. The breathtaking views of the ocean, the rich, intense colorful flowers and the laid back, beach vibe throughout the town had us hooked! There was no better place to showcase our new collection.
The Pink Chicken team set off to California- Paige, Christina and Gab headed out a day before me to scout locations (we stayed back for Belle’s middle school graduation). The owner of the house we rented from was absolutely incredible, the most wonderful host. He even took the Pink Chicken girls to a local neighborhood party the first night and made them feel right at home!
Also we hired a new photographer to shoot this collection. Kevin Zacher and his assistant Kate were so amazing, we felt as though we had been working together for years. They absolutely made the shoot and the pictures reflect it! There was something so remarkable about this trip; it was truly heavenly. I always find it so special when work and pleasure meld into one… it creates a unique, contagious energy that always inspires creativity. I am since dying to return to Encinitas and these Pink Chicken behind the scenes photos make me so reminiscent of my love for a new city, but don’t worry Amagansett, you will always be my first true love!
